Capacity Building via Urban Infrastructure Development II (CBUID II)
CBUID II aims to enhance urban development in Egypt through a comprehensive approach that prioritises integration, social inclusion, and climate resilience. The project focuses on strengthening planning capacities, piloting innovative implementation approaches, and fostering knowledge exchange among key stakeholders.
By improving planning instruments and methodologies, CBUID II will empower responsible institutions to effectively manage urban growth while addressing the needs of disadvantaged communities. This includes incorporating climate-sensitive factors into spatial planning, utilising data-driven decision-making, and promoting participatory approaches that prioritize social inclusion.
Through pilot projects in selected urban areas, the project will demonstrate the transformative impact of integrated and socially inclusive urban development approaches. By addressing infrastructure gaps, enhancing urban management, promoting local economies, and building climate resilience, CBUID II will improve the living conditions of residents and create replicable models for sustainable urban development.
Knowledge sharing and capacity building are central to the project's success. By facilitating the exchange of experiences and best practices among government agencies, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders, CBUID II will strengthen the sector's capacity to implement integrated and socially inclusive urban development initiatives nationwide.
Ultimately, CBUID II seeks to create more equitable, resilient, and prosperous urban environments in Egypt by fostering collaboration, innovation, and learning.
