What is GIZ?
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, often simply shortened to GIZ, is the main German development agency of the Federal Government of Germany.
It is headquartered in Bonn and Eschborn, with offices around the globe, and provides services in the field of international development cooperation and international education work.
The organisation’s goal is to deliver effective solutions that offer people better prospects and sustainably improve their living conditions.
GIZ's main commissioning party is Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Other commissioners include European Union institutions, the United Nations, the private sector, and governments of other countries.
In its projects, GIZ works with partners in national governments, actors from the private sector, civil society and research institutions.
Additionally, in cooperation with the German Federal Employment Agency, GIZ operates the Centre for International Migration and Development (CIM), an agency specialised on international cooperation activities related to global labour mobility.
What is the cooperation framework of GIZ in Egypt?
Operating in Egypt since 1956, GIZ provides technical expertise, develops capacities and delivers effective solutions in close partnership with local governmental and non-governmental organisations.
GIZ Egypt currently employs around 355 national and 35 international experts.
GIZ supports Egypt in its efforts to achieve the “Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt Vision 2030” in order to create better social and economic prospects for the Egyptian people.
On behalf of the German Government, the European Union and other parties, GIZ implements projects across Egypt in the areas of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency; Water Supply and Sanitation, Irrigation and Waste Management; Sustainable Economic Development for Employment; Governance and Urban Development.

What is the Equal Opportunities and Social Development?
The project Equal Opportunities and Social Development in Egypt (EOSD) is implemented by the GIZ, on behalf of the German Government, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Ministry of Youth and Sports with the enhancing preconditions for social participation of young Egyptian, especially for young women and young people with disabilities.
The project is a part of the GIZ Governance Sector Programme in Egypt that started in April 2021 and expected to be extended until end of 2026.

How can my organization benefit from the EOSD project fund?
The EOSD project offers funding opportunities to registered non-governmental organisations through different packages.
Whether your organization is interested in seeking funding as an umbrella NGO, an incubator, or you are a community-based organization (CBO) that want to be sub-granted by an Umbrella NGO, you need to sign up and create an account and profile for your organization.
This will allow you to view and apply for the different funding opportunities we offer.
I have applied to previous funding cycle(s) but was not selected, can I re-apply in new cycle(s)?
Yes, you can re-apply for new funding cycle(s). However, we highly encourage you to consider the reasons of rejection and work on it so you can have better chances with your new application.
My organization is seeking additional funding for an ongoing project, can I apply for the EOSD fund for that purpose?
Unfortunately, no. Since we work hand-in-hand with our partners and grantees in designing and implementing the funded project to assure the highest quality in each measure and intervention.
What kind support does GIZ provide for NGOs?

b. Funding in Grant Agreements model for large-sized NGOs
c. Funding in terms of Local Subsidy Agreements for Community-Based Organisations (CBOs)

What is the fund amount for projects?
The funding amounts depend on various factors. It depends on the objectives of each funding cycle and the funding model the applicant NGO is applying for. It also depends on the size, institutional, and financial capacities of the fund applicant. We encourage you to thoroughly read the cycle-specific funding guidelines for more information.
What happens if I missed the deadline of submission?
If you missed the deadline for applying to a funding cycle, you can still submit your organisation’s profile to be considered for later cycles of funding.
