"Doroob Egypt", represented by the website (doroobegypt.org) and the platform (), are provided by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH attaches great importance to responsible and transparent management of personal data.


We therefore provide you with the information below as to:

  • What data is processed when you use Doroob Egypt
  • What rights you have with respect to us

2. Information on the collection of personal data

GIZ processes personal data exclusively in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG).

Examples of personal data are name, address, email address, and user behaviour.

3. Categories of personal data collected by Doroob Egypt

When you register on or use Doroob Egypt platform, GIZ process personal data relating to you. The personal data processed include:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number

4. The legal basis for processing personal data

In general, Doroob Egypt only collects and processes personal data of users strictly for the purpose of processing and managing grant applications and monitoring granted projects. the legal basis for processing personal data is the informed consent of you, the data subject, to the processing personal data where required (EU-GDPR Art. 6 (1) lit. a, and the necessary processing for the performance of a task in the public interest (EU-GDPR Art. 6(1)(e)).

5. Cookies

When you visit Doroob Egypt website, small text files known as 'cookies' are stored on your computer. They are used to make the online experience more user-friendly and effective overall. Cookies cannot run programs or infect your computer with viruses.

Doroob Egypt only uses strictly necessary technical cookies and local storage. Doroob Egypt does not use any tracking, analytics, or third-party marketing cookies. To provide our services, we only store a minimal amount of data locally in your browser required for basic platform functionality.

6. Storage & deletion of personal data

Personal data of the data subject will generally be deleted if their account has been inactive for two consecutive years. Beforehand, Doroob Egypt will notify the data subject that such deletion is pending. Data users can prevent deletion of their user data by logging into their accounts.

Data subjects (Doroob Egypt users) have the right to request a deletion of their personal data at anytime. To do so, they can use the "Delete account" function via the settings page or send a deletion request to [email protected]

Data deletion means permanent deletion of the personal data from Doroob Egypt databases. After deletion, it is not possible to retrieve it.

If the data subject (the user) decides to delete their user data, they will not be able to access or use Doroob Egypt platform. They can still visit the public website.

7. Data transfer

The processing of personal data of the data subjects (users) may involve the transmission of the data only to the following entities for further processing:

  1. The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ)
  2. The European Union (EU)
  3. The respective political partners of GIZ projects providing grant opportunities

GIZ does not pass on personal data to any other third party unless it is legally obliged or entitled to do so by law.

Prior to any transmission of data to persons or entities outside GIZ or the aforementioned entities - including anonymized data, Data Subjects (users) will be contacted by GIZ to request their consent to such transmission.

8. User rights

As a visitor and user of Doroob Egypt, you have the right to:

  • Obtain information about your data stored by Doroob Egypt (Article 15 GDPR)
  • Have your data stored by Doroob Egypt rectified (Article 16 GDPR)
  • Have your data stored by Doroob Egypt erased (Article 17 GDPR)
  • Obtain restriction of processing of your data stored by Doroob Egypt (Article 18 GDPR)
  • Object to the storage of your data if it is processed on the basis of Article 6(1)e and f (Article 21 GDPR)
  • To receive data concerning you in commonly used and machine-readable format from the controller such that it can be potentially transmitted to another controller (right to data portability, Article 20 GDPR)
  • To withdraw your consent to the extent that the data has been processed on the basis of the consent (Article 6(1) a GDPR). The lawfulness of the processing on the basis of the consent given remains unaffected until receipt of the withdrawal.
  • In accordance with Article 77 GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority for GIZ is the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI).
